Want An Opponent?

AHIKS now offers three matching services. Just fill out one of the forms below and press submit. You’ll hear from our Match coordinator.

We maintain a list of current requests for opponent matches.  The list is a google doc seen here.

The classic Opponents Matching Service lets you specify the specific game you want to play.  The Topical Matching Service is for people who want to play, e.g., the latest S&T game or ‘games about the Battle of Gettysburg’.  The Geographic Matching Service is for people who want opponents in a particular geographic area.

The AHIKS Opponents Matching Services are only for members. You must join AHIKS before you will receive opponents from us.  If you can’t remember your ID number, you must be agent 0008.

Matching has become more complicated than was the case fifty years ago:

(1) How do you communicate with your opponents?  You might want to play face-to-face (FTF).  You might want to play by exchanging moves, either by postal mail (P), by email (E), by Zoom (Y); or by Table-Top Simulator (T). You might want to play by virtual face-to-face (W), in which play is live, but opponents are  at opposite ends of an internet connection.

(2) How are the map and pieces represented?  You might want a box and cardboard counters (B). You might want computer software, including A = ADC2; C = Cyberboard; T=ACTS; V = Vassal;  Z = Zuntzu.  Even if you are playing face-to-face, you might be using computer software, for example to play a game over several weekends.

(3) Finally, there are some special codes. F = Fast play; G = will Gamemaster; L = Learning game; S = Slow play; X = Non-rated Game

Some games are for two players.  Some games are for more than two players.   Note check box at top of form.  Note the ‘SUBMIT’ button at the bottom of the form!
